Stealth Gameplay Concept
Introduction
For this Project I will be mechanically recreating key game mechanics used in modern stealth games, using blueprint scripting, in the Unreal 4 engine. To achieve this I will be drawing inspiration from games such as Metal Gear Solid and other similar games of this genre.
The Player's objective will be to reach the end of the level, avoiding paroling AI, without raising the alarm. Should the alarm be raised, the player will have to hide from the enemy until the alarm is reset and regular patrols are resumed.
The key features I will be focusing on will be:
Cover system
Shooting mechanics
AI behaviors
Basic UI elements
Initial setup
The project will be made in Unreal 4 3rd person template with the animation starter pack installed. This gives me a more suitable animation set to work with, giving me access to a crouch function and a variety of other stances, should I need them. The starter pack also has the hands in the correct position to hold a rifle, which I have imported from the engine and attached to a bone in the character skeletal mesh to display a more accurate representation of shooting mechanics.
